Children's Privacy Notice

COPPA COMPLIANCE

This notice explains, specifically and separately from our general Privacy Policy, how Marion Learning Academy collects, uses, and protects information from children under 13 who participate in our live classes, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

This notice is provided to parents and guardians before any information is collected from your child, so you can make an informed decision about enrollment. If anything here is unclear, contact us before enrolling, not after.

1. Who We Are

Marion Learning Academy is the operator collecting this information. We are the sole operator responsible for the practices described in this notice. You can reach us at info@marionlearningacademy.com.

2. Information We Collect From Your Child

We collect only what's necessary to deliver the specific live class your child is enrolled in:

First name: used to identify your child during the live Zoom session
Voice and/or video: only if your child unmutes to ask a question or chooses to turn on their camera during a recorded live session

We do not collect your child's last name, birthdate, address, school, phone number, email address, or any government-issued identifier. Your child is never asked to create an account or provide information directly to us outside of a live class your parent enrolled them in.

3. How We Use This Information

To run the live class and allow your child to participate (see their name, hear their question)
To create a class recording, shared only with families enrolled in that same class, for a limited time

We do not use any information collected from your child for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to delivering the class itself.

4. Who This Information Is Shared With

We do not share your child's information with advertisers, data brokers, or any party outside of what's listed above. We cannot control what an enrolled family does with the recording once they have access to it (for example, saving or resharing it) during the 14-day access window, and we ask all families to respect other children's privacy the way they'd want their own respected.

5. How Long We Keep It

The class recording, including any video or voice from your child, is automatically inaccessible to everyone, including us, 14 days after the final class session. We do not keep an indefinite copy of the full recording. If we reference general classroom experience in future teaching materials, it does not include your child's name, voice, image, or any other identifying detail.

6. Verifiable Parental Consent

Before your child joins any live class, we require a parent or guardian to complete our enrollment and consent form using an email address that matches the account used for payment. This combination, a confirmed email plus an associated payment record, is how we verify that consent is coming from a parent or guardian, consistent with FTC guidance for a business of our size.

7. Your Rights as a Parent or Guardian

At any time, you have the right to:

Review the specific information we have collected about your child
Request deletion of your child's information, including asking us to remove their segment from any recording still within its access window
Refuse to allow any further collection or use of your child's information, and withdraw consent, even after enrollment

We will never require your child to provide more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in a class, and enrollment is never conditioned on agreeing to optional data uses beyond what's needed for the class itself.

8. How to Exercise These Rights

Email info@marionlearningacademy.com with your child's first name and the class they were enrolled in. We will respond and take action within a reasonable time, and no later than required by law.

9. Changes to This Notice

If we materially change how we collect or use children's information, we will update this page and notify currently enrolled families directly by email before the change takes effect.
